Everyone has a different response to the thought of relocating. Given the opportunity, some people would pack up in a heartbeat to experience a thrilling new adventure anywhere, anytime. Others would only consider it if they have zero other options. However, most people fall somewhere between these two extremes. The thought of leaving everything behind is both exhilarating and terrifying, not to mention the fact that it takes a lot of coordination. But for the right opportunity, many of us would consider the thought of expanding our horizons in a place where everything is fresh and new.

In any case, relocating opens up a lot of questions. When do you leave, how will you get there, and most importantly, where will you go? Toronto or Ottawa might spring to mind, but there are many reasons you might want to set your sights on Halton.

Milton

Do you love the idea of being close to nature and the countryside while enjoying the conveniences of a major city? Milton might just be worthy of your consideration. Though officially a town, it has everything you could ever want in a big city, minus the crowds and the traffic jams. The location at the base of the Niagara Escarpment will provide countless hours and opportunities for outdoor recreation, from the stunning hiking trails of Rattlesnake Point to the numerous family-friendly parks and sports fields. There are no actual rattlesnakes to worry about, by the way. The name stems from the many winding paths cut by glaciers along the escarpment’s edge. However, you may catch a glimpse of a turkey vulture in mid-flight. At the very least, you’ll be captivated by the mesmerizing view at several lookout points, especially during the fall when the leaves begin to change!

Beautiful scenery may be one draw to Milton, but there’s much more to this exciting community than foliage. Milton is also part of the Innovation Corridor that generates a quarter of the GDP for the entire nation. This means plenty of career opportunities and potential advancement for any professionals who relocate to the area. Education is also a high priority for the families living here, as evidenced by the presence of 15 public elementary schools and 4 secondary schools.

Your real estate options primarily consist of detached homes on generous-sized lots, from small bungalows to spacious two-storeys perfect for families. If you’re looking for something more entry-level, there are townhouses available in both freehold and condo styles. This combination of a rural-like feel and city amenities has helped to make Milton one of the fastest-growing towns in the GTA.
